Life Touching Stories
Ama
I counselled a 15-year-old young girl who is a final year student of Ejura JHS by name Ama (actual name withheld). From our counselling session, she confided in me that she had left home and for about three months and her parents never knew where she was. Several attempts by the family and the police to find her proved futile. Within the three-month period, she stayed at a ‘ghetto’ base within Accra and became addicted to illicit drugs which affected her adversely.During the Easter season, one of her friends who stays around her new residence took her home to celebrate together. While eating with her friend, Ama got glued to the Walking with Jesus film showing on TV. She felt convicted and could not continue to eat again until the film ended. As a counsellor, she got in touch with me via the short code we displayed during the Jesus Film broadcast. Later, I led her to accept Christ since she made the decision to do so. She later confided in me about the issue, after which I advised her to return to her family home. This was after I reached out to her mom.I have been taking Ama through a series of lessons on her new life in Christ and how to live a victorious Christian life. Now, she can read her bible and do personal daily prayers before leaving for school. One day, while on her personal devotion, she shared with me her experience via SMS. She said, “I now experience the victorious Christian life and I believe I have hope in Christ Jesus, what you’ve always talked to me about’.Ama’s mother testified that truly, she has seen a new version and a complete change in the life of her daughter, ever since Ama gave her life to Christ and returned home graciously.Indeed, in every lowest valley and highest mountains, nothing can separate us from the love of God. Ama found the love of God even in the ghetto, on that fateful Easter Saturday.
To God be the Glory!!!
